Fading

The sixth prompt for the CCP Salon Instagram Project is Fading. And this is my response to it.

Fading was a transition tool I always used in video post productions, where you fade in or out from a video clip to another, so I wasn’t sure how to interpret that into a still photograph. While taking a break on the steps at my favourite street photography spot, Melbourne Central, I saw this shadow and lines leading down the stairway. A guy was actually talking on his phone at the top of the stairs, his shadow cast on the yellow wall, and up came my camera, the Leica D-Lux. I probably took about 20 shots, some with people walking past, some didn’t had a nice shadow, but I chose this as if the shadow is looking down that fading line, into the darkness. Anyway, 4 more prompts to go before I say goodbye to the Leica D-Lux, so I’m going to enjoy it while it last.
